Rebellious Fairytale

Deborah Lippman - Today Was A Fairytale
Chanel - Blue Rebel

I absolutely love the combination of these two! I don't think even these pictures give justice to how sparkly and shiny "Today Was A Fairytale" is! This is super bling bling my ladies!! I can't stop staring at my own nails lol :P Surprisingly the glitter polish is actually really smooth and I don't even need a top coat to smooth it out (But I'll still put a top coat on, so it stays on longer). Both polishes dry very quickly and are very opaque, I only have on one coat of each and this is the result. Super good right? sigh~~ too bad these polishes are not mine but my sister's lol I borrowed them....now I must go out and buy myself some Deborah Lippmann and Chanel polishes!

New Toys From Sephora

I made a little trip to Sephora with my sister the other day after having dim sum in richmond and picked up a few things! :D The paper lashes were on sale for only $10 (the cashier said that the original price is around $22+!!!) and my sister was really curious about it after seeing a demo by Asahi from youtube. So we both got a pair! I got the one on the left and she wanted the one on the right because it had stars. The cashier was also nice enough to give us our birthday gifts that we forgot to get even though it has been wayyyy past our birthdays lol. Then my sister also wanted to give the Urban Decay setting sprays a try, so she picked up the De Slick and said she'd give me half since it'd probably take her forever to use it up. So I guess I'll be doing my thoughts on it later when I get it :)

As for the Bobbi Brown Corrector, I actually picked that up a week ago when I was in dt with my wifey. I got a Sephora gift card for my birthday, so I decided that it would be a good deal for me to try out the corrector since I only had to pay $10 extra and I've hit pan on my Maybelline Dream Mousse Concealer. I must say...I understand why it is so hyped about all over youtube cause I am in LOVE with it. It melts into the skin and doesn't extenuate your fine lines; it also has great coverage - so you don't need to layer over and over again and eventually risk caking up your eyes. This is definitely worth every penny you pay for.

Gyaru/Dolly Eye Makeup

Helloooo Everyone! I'm back with a dolly makeup tutorial that was recently requested - more specifically about the eyeliner part. Generally the cute dolly makeup look is also known as the gyaru look, and of course Tsubasa's makeup is a prime example to observe. As you all know, I am a monolid, so my way of eyelining is slightly different from those who are double lidded. But essentially, a dolly look is just about the "puppy eyes", where you extend your line downwards instead of winging it up, false lashes and pink/nude lippie. In this tutorial I'm not trying to recreate her look exactly, these photos are just one of the many I've found to use as an example and reference. :)

Eyelining: Broken into The Small Details

Step 1.1: Because I have monolids, how thin or thick my line is doesn't matter because when i look up the line is gone lol So to make it even easier for myself, I first line my eyes with a pencil liner. Not only will this make lining my eyes with liquid liner over top effortless it also fills in the gaps between the lashes. I usually start from the middle and do short strokes going outwards.

**If you are double lidded, instead of lining your eyes with pencil first, just go straight ahead with liquid since you want a nice thin line. But the technique is the same, start in the middle and move outwards with short strokes.

Step 1.2: Next finish lining the eyes from the inner most corner to out. Why should we start in the middle first? Because as you keep doing short strokes, every stroke overlaps. So when you do the inner corner last, you have more gradual tappered and thinner line.

Step 1.3: Go over the pencil with your liquid eyeliner. By doing so, you will make your eyeliner last and of course, if you are double lid this wouldn't apply to you if you started with a liquid eyeliner. For this particular look, I gradually made the center/middle slightly thicker to make my monolids more rounded for the dolly eye look.

Step 1.4: Now for the wing: slightly line past your eyes downwards and extend out to a fine point. Make sure your wing is slightly curved for the puppy/doll eye. If you draw a straight blunt wing, it will be more strong and cat eye like instead of the cute eyes you are going for.

I purposely made my eyes look double lid for a second to show you guys how this should look like hahaha and now we are done with the eyeliner part! :) Whether you like to line your eyes first or do eyeshadow first, it doesn't really matter. But I guess lining your eyes first would give you a good guide line of where you want your eyeshadows to be.

Eyeshadow

Step 2: Apply a light shimmery gold color all over the lids for a wash of color and use it as a transition/blending color. Also highlight the brow bone with this shade.

Step 3: Taking the bronzy orange shade, apply it over the lids and blend the edges into the light gold color

Step 4: With the dark brown color, apply it to the outer corner of the eye and blend into the bronzy shade

Step 5: Bring the dark brown color to the lower lash line and go a third of the way in.

Step 6: Take a shimmery white shadow and highlight the inner corner of the eye to give attract light and brighten up the eyes.

Step 7: To make your eyes look even bigger, line the waterline with a white eyeliner pencil. I also curled my lashes, applied mascara and popped some falsies on :P If you have lower lashes put those on too, I don't have any at the moment, so I just applied more mascara to my bottom lashes.

Step 9: Set the liner with a white eyeshadow to make it last longer.

Step 10: And then you're done!.........well not quite ahaha you still have an option of lining/defining the inner corner of the eye with your black liquid eyeliner. This is kind of a personal choice, personally I don't think my eyes look that great with defining the inner corners - defining mine actually elongates them making them a little less doll like because my eye shape is more flat than round lol but I'll just show you anyways. I'm sorry I couldn't do a up close detail shot because the sun was gone and my macro setting can't take decent shots under artificial lighting =_= But all you do is to create a slight point at the tip of your eye and connect it wit the top lash line as well as the bottom, but only extend it an eighth of the way for the bottom lash line (refer to the last picture).

And now this is the final completed look! I hope this tutorial helped. If you guys have any questions feel free to ask or if you have any requests just let me know! Hope you all had a great weekend!

Jill Stuart & Valentine's Day Tutorial

Although I'm not going anywhere tomorrow I decided to do a makeup look anyways since I've been wanted to do a demo using the Jill Stuart Fairy Garden Collection I got for my birthday. At first glance, it seems like you can't do a look with the given eyeshadow colors (frosty green, pink and burgundy purple) in the quad but, they actually blend together really well especially using the Asian/Japanese method to apply eyeshadows :)

Step 1: Apply your eye primer and then go over with the Jelly Eye Color in Twinkle Star all over the eyelids to give more sparkle to the eyes :D

Step 2: Apply the frosty green shade all over the lids up to the eye socket but not past it using a regular shader brush

Step 3: using the other side of the shader brush, dip it into the pink shade and blend it over the frosty green inwards from the outer corner. The frosty green would act as your transition color from the lid to the brow bone so don't blend the pink upwards, leave it so that the frosty green is still visible peaking over the pink color a little bit.

Step 4: line your upper lash line with a pencil liner

Step 5: using a crease brush dip it into the burgundy purple shadow and smudge out your liner; work from out to inwards to create a subtle smokey effect.

Step 6:  using a smudger brush bring the burgundy purple eyeshadow to the lower lash line going only one-third of the way.

Step 7: Since all the shadows are already shimmery, take only a tiny bit of the shimmery white frosty shadow and apply it lightly to the brow bone

Step 8: curl your lashes, apply mascara and falsies (if you want) and then you are done! Excuse the camera, the colors are a bit washed out due to the bright lighting but I think you get the idea ;) eheheh

Finisheeeddd! :)
Enjoy your chocolates hahahaha and Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!!

Review: Majolica Majorca Lash King Mascara

Introducing the newly released mascara from Shiseido's Majolica Majorca
Spring 2012 makeup collection......LASH KING!
I wanted to review this earlier but at the same time I also wanted to use this
quite a few times/1-2 weeks before sharing my opinion. First things first...The
packaging is sooo pretty!! XD hahaha I think Japanese makeup packaging
never fails to impress me. <3 Anyways, My sister bought this for me from Sasa Cosmetics
for $158 HKD (which is converts to approx. $22 CDN)

Lash King has a straight bristle brush, or what they call the "acrobatic catch brush"
which coats each individual lash and separates them at the same time.
Lash King contains 5mm long micro fibers to help lengthen your lashes
and along with the formula it contains Volume Impact Wax and
Volume Powder, to adhere better to your lashes and provide you with voluminous lashes!

And of course, as most of us ladies are concerned with getting raccoon eyes, Lash King also contains Speedy Dry Oil that will not only hold your perfect curls but also make the mascara waterproof, sweat proof, sebum proof, and tear proof.

From Bare Lashes to One Coat then Two Coats of Mascara

As a typical Asian girl feature I have short, stick straight lashes that are almost non-existent le sigh~ and they desperately need help :( lol. So when I buy mascaras what I look for is basically everything one can offer....volume, length and holding a curl is a NECESSITY (usually a waterproof formula will do the job so yes, it needs to be waterproof as well). If the mascara can't hold my curl...i will immediately return it, give it away etc...I won't waste a second more on it. Holding a curl is important to me, because if it doesn't....you won't even see my pathetic lashes - then what's the point of even having a mascara right?

.........So what do I think about this mascara???

Pros:
- Lengthens & Volumizes
- Holds my curls and is long lasting
- Waterproof (I've tested it in the shower! :P)
- Separates lashes quite well
- Lashes are still soft after application
- Not hard to wash/take off with makeup remover

Cons:
- Not black enough for my liking
- Fibers tend to clump and concentrate at the tip of the brush (so you need to point your wand up and straight to coat your lashes and get the fibers on for optimal length)

Overall Rating: 4.5/5

All in all....of course compared to my drugstore favourite Maybelline's The Falsies, Lash King definitely over rides it with the length that the fibers give me and keeping them separated at the same time. If only the blackness of Lash King was more intense like The Falsies and have a less dry formula I'd give it 5/5. Another thing I like about this mascara is that it's buildable - your lashes don't get clumpy when you put on more layers. I'd definitely repurchase this mascara if I can get my hands on it again but if not, I guess I'm still happy with The Falsies considering that this is quite pricey :)

I hope this review was helpful and stay tuned for more :) the upcoming posts will probably be on some skin care products! Thanks for reading! <3

Earthy Comfort

Boyfriend Sweater & Mustard Yellow Infinity Scarf: no name/brand
Leg Warmer Leggings: mi-tu
(all gifted from Hong Kong)

I am absolutely loving these leggings! Not only is it soft and comfortable but also a 2 in 1! The leg warmers are actually part of the pants themselves. However, being a shopaholic, I still want to get the individual leg warmers haha :D The mustard yellow infinity scarf is another interesting piece; the scarf is actually spit into two different knit patterns - half of the scarf is chunky while the other half has a finer pattern, so when you loop it around your neck you get two different textural pattern layering look. :)

So......I had another one of those brutal 12 hour days at school yesterday (8:30am to 9:30pm) which explains for me lack of effort to dress up, forgive me lol I better ace this organic chem midterm for all the studying and effort I've made! wish me luck? >___<"
